Encouraged by her Romulan mother, all Katya wanted to be was a dancer, but her Vulcan father disapproved and sent her to Vulcan while he promoted unification on Romulus. Katya secretly practised her dancing in the guise of mastering the Lirpa, but when Romulus was destroyed she abandoned dance and vowing to avenge her parents, she joined the Romulan Republic.
