Seraphina Dace

Once considered a rising star in Starfleet, Dace fell out of favour after the destruction of the USS Swiftsure. Her Akira class was engaged by a Romulan Scimitar near Beta Pilatus, rendering her weapons systems inoperable. Unwilling to retreat, Dace moved all torpedoes to a hangar bay, and after executing a manoeuvre that charged the enemy only to turn and present the Swiftsure’s rear, she depressurized the hangar, blowing the torpedoes out, destroying the Scimitar. The proximity of the attack and resultant explosion damaged the Swiftsure extensively which precipitated a warp core breach and the complete destruction of the ship.

Although she received praise for her tactical ingenuity, Dace was put before a Board of Inquiry and found guilty of recklessness in not withdrawing from the battle. She avoided discharge as several fellow Captains gave testimony that they probably would not have retreated given similar circumstances, but despite retaining her rank, Dace has been very much reduced in responsibility, now commanding an NX replica light escort, the USS Redemption.
